About Cameron

Cameron Wood is an award-winning communications strategist with more than three decades of experience turning complex ideas into compelling, actionable messages. Equal parts storyteller, strategist, and change agent, Cameron specializes in internal communications, employee engagement, issues management, and transformative content that connects people to purpose.

With a rich background spanning higher education, global health benefits, financial services, and publishing, Cameron’s expertise lies in building communication strategies that support business goals while fostering trust, clarity, and collaboration. His work has helped institutions navigate organizational change, crises, digital transformation, and cultural shifts – always with a focus on clear, human-centered messaging.

Currently serving as a Communications Officer at Sheridan College, Cameron leads strategic internal and employee communications for the college’s administration portfolio, along with strategic support to enrollment recovery initiatives. From pandemic response and budgeting model rollouts to flexible work environments and AI policy, he’s become a trusted voice in change communications and institutional storytelling.

Prior to Sheridan, he held key communications roles at Cigna in the UK and London Life in Canada, and he began his career in newspapers and trade journalism, where he honed his interview skills and editorial impact. 

A self-described “worst cheerleader” for his own accomplishments, Cameron prefers to shift the spotlight toward the teams, leaders, and business partners he works with. While his work has earned industry recognition, he finds more fulfillment in seeing others succeed, watching strategies take flight, and helping organizations tell their best story from the inside out.

A former entrepreneur, having grown Ontario’s longest-running mystery dinner theatre into a thriving entertainment venture, Cameron brings an extra edge to his communication work from the stage – he is also a professional actor and served time as stand-up comedian, skilled in performance, presence, and reading the room. That dynamic blend of humor, empathy, and insight helps him connect with audiences whether he’s leading a team meeting or a keynote.

When he’s not crafting comms plans or leading engagement campaigns, Cameron speaks and writes on the future of work, strategies for engaging employees, the evolving role of internal communicators, and the ethical integration of AI in communications. His work has been recognized by the IABC, CAUBO, CPRS, and the AVA Digital Awards.
